Aims
To familiarise construction personnel with the principles of taking off, recording dimensions and the presentation of bills of quantities. This course is designed for those with little or no experience in the use of MMHW.

Teaching Outcomes
At the end of the workshop, the delegates should be able to:
- Define certain standard terminology associated with excavation works and understand its relevance to the measurement process
- Apply the weighted technique for establishing average ground levels
- Interpolate the position of cut and fill lines
- Produce centreline girths for trenches and walls
- Enter quantities on dimension paper
- Use MMHW for the development of measurement descriptions
- Produce typical bill entries for a bill of quantities
- Be able to classify piling systems by method of load transfer and method of placing
