Aims
To familiarise construction personnel with the principles of taking off, recording dimensions and the presentation of bills of quantities. This course is designed for those with little or no experience in the use of CESMM.

Teaching Outcomes

- Define certain standard terminology associated with excavation works and understand its relevance to the measurement process
- Apply the weighted technique for establishing average ground levels
- Interpolate the position of cut and fill lines
- Identify correct measurement technique
- Enter quantities on dimension paper
- Use CESMM3 for the development of measurement descriptions
- Produce typical bill entries for a bill of quantities
- Be able to classify work items
